Computational Thinking Concepts & Approaches:
RESOURCE OVERVIEW:
Our little bytes of learning fun have been designed to encourage pupil engagement with collaborative activities. These are easy to do and can be used in school and at home tech-free, using pens, paper and other everyday items to teach computational thinking skills and concepts, encompassing a range of different subjects.
For those aged 5-7 we have the following activities to try;
- Now wash your hands – create a poster using algorithms
- Shared story – use decomposition to re-tell a story
- Friendship bracelets – use patterns to create bracelets collaboratively
- Wanna be in my band? – make simple instruments then create a song/algorithm to play them
- Collaborative crazy characters – use algorithms to make and share crazy character creations
- Time to dance – make dance rouines using algorithms
- Tallest tower – use logic and evaluation as newspaper towers are built
- We’re back together – use poems and patterns as you collaborate
