There are five lesson plans and accompanying materials which cover the collection, analysis and evaluation of data. With Italy as the core theme, your pupils will develop their practical computational skills in online research and modelling using spreadsheets. To top things off, they will celebrate their efforts with a class pizza party, complete with pizza.
This is a cross-curricular resource. Throughout the five lessons pupils will be developing their computing skills and their language, design and technology and mathematics skills too!
Lesson 1
Pupils, in small groups, will research an aspect of Italy and present their information to the class. They’ll generate a quiz about Italy and take it home to test their family
Lesson 2
Pupils begin preparing for their pizza party. They’ll be introduced to data collection and spreadsheets as they choose their toppings
Lesson 3
Pupils explore data modelling using spreadsheets as they work out the cost of their pizzas
Lesson 4
Party time! Pupils make their pizzas and tuck in
Lesson 5
What did we learn? Pupils create a presentation to illustrate their learning and evaluate their work
