Online Safety and Cyber Security Resources for Teachers

Teaching pupils how to keep themselves safe online is crucial in today's digital world. This page includes all Barefoot’s internet safety lessons for Key Stage 1 and 2. Our resources are designed to empower teachers with the tools and knowledge to educate pupils on various aspects of online safety and cyber security and navigate the digital landscape responsibly and safely.

Understanding Online Safety vs. Cyber Security

While online safety and cyber security are closely related, they address different aspects of digital well-being. Online safety focuses on teaching pupils how to protect themselves from harmful online behaviours, such as cyberbullying and inappropriate content. It emphasises safe practices and awareness to ensure a positive online experience.

Cyber security, on the other hand, involves protecting digital devices, networks, and data from unauthorised access and cyber threats. It includes creating strong passwords, recognising phishing attempts, and understanding the importance of permissions and ownership of online content. By integrating both online safety and cyber security education, we aim to provide a comprehensive approach to digital literacy for young learners.
